Fry Sight Words Tracing Worksheets (First 100)
100 free printable worksheets for the most common words in English, ordered exactly like the Fry First 100 list.
Sight words (high-frequency words) are the words that appear most often in English books. The Fry First 100 list below covers roughly half of all words in children's reading — words like the, and, you and was. Each word opens a printable worksheet with big dotted tracing rows, simple sentences showing the word at work, letter-shape tips and a blank write-it-yourself line. Unlike the CVC collection, these pages teach words as whole shapes (look, say, trace, remember), because many sight words do not follow simple phonics rules.
Work down the list in Fry order, or jump to the words your child meets in the books they read. Ten new words at a time is a comfortable pace, and every worksheet is free to print for personal and classroom use.

Frequently asked questions
What are Fry sight words?
The Fry list is a famous list of the 1,000 most common English words, built by counting real books for children. The First 100 — the words on this page — cover about half of the words in an average children's book, so learning them by sight unlocks reading very quickly.
Why trace sight words if children learn them by sight?
Tracing builds the same recognition in a second way: the hand learns the shape of the word while the eye and ear learn its look and sound. Children who trace a word also write it more confidently later, because the letter order is already in their fingers.
In what order should we practise the 100 words?
The worksheets are grouped in Fry order, ten words at a time, but feel free to follow your child's own books instead. The most useful starting set is usually words 1–25 (the, of, and, a, to and so on), because they glue every sentence together.
Are these different from the CVC word worksheets?
Yes. CVC pages (cat, hen, pig) teach words you can sound out with three simple letter sounds. Sight word pages teach the most frequent words as whole shapes — some can be sounded out, but many use tricky spellings, so the practice method is look-say plus tracing.
